Brilliant itinerary, don't be put off by comments about the quality of the roads, it is worth it! The driver/guides and the tour director were very knowledgeable, the sheer number and variety of animals seen was breathtaking. There were so many memorable moments it is very hard to pick just one, the tour certainly exceeded (high) expectations.

Most Memorable Moment:

Seeing a leopard from the balcony of the Four Seasons in the Serengeti

Kenya, Tanzania, the Serengeti, the Maasai, the wildlife, the vast expanses individually would check off a good deal of one's bucket list. In total they comprise an experience that should not be missed. This awe inspiring display of nature is threatened by different forces. Such a shame to miss any of it. Go before it's gone.

Most Memorable Moment:

EVERYONE asks that. It would not do this trip justice to choose one of anything. It is the fusion of the wildlife, the expanses of grassland, an ancient people and a brilliant leader with a depth and breadth of experience that combine to create an unparalleled journey - into Africa, its past, its present and its future.

This trip was our 6th trip with Tauck. It by far, surpassed our expectations! Amazing animals, people from both countries, scenery, accommodations , food and our amazing TD and group. The guides were excellent, we learned so much! Our TD was outstanding! Great sense of humor, knowledge of the area, and passion for Africa!

Most Memorable Moment:

I can’t pick one! It was all spectacular! I am missing Africa! We really loved the Masai village, school and the beautiful ladies weaving! I feel so blessed to have experienced this. The ballon ride was amazing and I was scared for no reason! And as usual, there are a few wonderful Tauck “surprises”! If it’s on your bucket list, Go now!

Tauck exceeded our expectations; our long dreamed of trip was an experience of a lifetime! Our tour director was the best we've ever had. He was the epitome of the perfect tour director!

Most Memorable Moment:

Too difficult to choose between seeing all the animals, the inspirational visits to the Maasai village and school, and the outstanding hotel accommodations. And the surprise visits to watch the gorgeous sunsets!!

If you are looking for the trip of a lifetime, this is it. I had heard that Africa changes you forever, like nowhere on earth. Once you have been there, you will never be the same. It is a true statement. The nature, the wonder, the beauty, the culture, the warm welcome from all that live there make it a trip worth taking.

Most Memorable Moment:

There is no one moment. It is a collage of moments from Kilimanjaro rising above the Serengeti, to Ngorongoro Crater, the Serengeti, Maasai Mara, from elephants to hippos, from cheetahs to lions, to the endless number of zebra and wildebeest. All are worth seeing in their natural, beautiful habitat.

It was a much harder trip than I thought it would be. The dry, bumpy, dusty roads in Tanzania nearly did me in. We should have flown to reach the Four Seasons (the best hotel). However, it was all worth it when we got to Kenya. We saw every imaginable animal up close. The group was terrific and caring. The buffets all the same. This is not a vacation.

Most Memorable Moment:

Seeing a big pride of lions and cubs up close and taking the balloon ride/breakfast surrounded by animals. Seeing a giant elephant with tusks come right out of the bushes in front of us. Going off-rode in Kenya was great. We also enjoyed the Four Seasons and The Mount Kenya Safari Club with the equator ritual.

Was perfect. Busy itinerary, necessary to see the animals. Lodges were perfectly located especially Four Seasons for splendid views. Weather 70's day 50's mornings & nights. Shopping opportunities are few. Buy tanzanite at Cultural Center. Animals were so close that I could see the elephant's eyelashes and lions scars. Excellent Tour Director.

Most Memorable Moment:

Falling in love with the graceful giraffes and gazelles. The honor of seeing a whole lion pride. Seeing the elusive leopard and it's kill. Flying in a hot air balloon and seeing the myriad of animals cohabitating peacefully.Meeting the Maasai, the most gentle, kind people one can meet. It really was a trip of a lifetime.

It was truly a trip of a lifetime that we will never forget and probably never stop taking about. Tauck is first class in every aspect of travel!!

Most Memorable Moment:

There were really too many to mention. But there was one that was very special to us because it was on the date of our 50th wedding anniversary. We were on a small hill in the serengeti for a sunset in the west with Mt Kilimanjaro to the east. With all of our friends we enjoyed a 'happy hour' that will be a lasting memory.

This Tauck experience really was an experience!

Most Memorable Moment:

The most memorable moment was the night drive. It was so incredible to see hundreds of animals and their eyes in the dark. And if that wasn’t enough, we were lucky enough to see two lions kill a gazelle for an evening snack. WOW!

Most Memorable Moment:

I was thrown off a bit by our tour director reserved manner but the safari guides were great. We saw thousands of wildebeests on Maasai Mara plain but regrettably not river crossing.

Most Memorable Moment:

There were so many : fun loving lion cubs playing and running to greet their mothers, the lions mating and the 2 jackals tearing a baby gazelle apart. The most hilarious moment was a male ostrich performing a 15 minutes energetic mating dance in front of a young male buffalo :) Africa will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

However, many guests expected to be taken to a river crossing to possibly see the Great Migration. It never happened. Extend the trip 1 day and do 2 additional nights at Mara Serena which is 6 KM from river crossing.

Most Memorable Moment:

Our stay at the 4 Seasons and the parade of elephants at the Water Hole by the infinity pool. Also a parade of elephants crossing in front of us at Amboseli. Will Never forget.

Most Memorable Moment:

MOMENTS: a parade of 40 elephants and later a cheetah strolling in front of our vehicle; a mother lioness with two cubs casually walking toward us; hyenas surrounding us as we watched a male lion and his harem enjoying their kill; meeting the children and teachers in two Maasai schools; Maasai and Kikuyu welcoming ceremonies . . .

We were lucky enough to see every animal including white and black rhinos and leopards and cheetah.

Most Memorable Moment:

The jeeps were great, the guides/drivers were knowledgeable and their English was easy to understand. We felt safe the entire time - even when close to the animals. We loved Africa!!

Most Memorable Moment:

We were so fortunate in that we saw nearly every animal on their "list"...and lucky too, that we experienced them up close to our jeeps. Frequent solo female traveler reassured by Tauck's 'solo travel' write up. I got paired up with a solo male, 20-yrs my snr on 6 person jeep safaris. He loved manspreading, playing footsies, and leaning in to me to take pictures. Even at meals, due to designated tables, right next to me. I was told by the tour director it was just the numbers.

Most Memorable Moment:

I loved the animals, but not the tour director-up to 2hr evening lectures to find out the times for the next day. I was given the wrong itinerary book ('Journeys'). It was missing events, had missing days. I told the tour director and he said 'you'll be fine.','yours is better, it has songs' He used our sundowner as a sales pitch for his other tours.

I like to shorten stay at either Mount Kenya Safari Club or Masai Mara and add at Serengeti at Four s Seasons which is awesome. Open the rooms's backdoor and you are viewing Serengeti.

Most Memorable Moment:

There were several. But this is the best one. We saw three lions killing a zebra. It was right in front of our eyes and happened in 10 to 15 secs. We stopped luckily for something else and within a minute it happened. There was another one too. A big lion walked next to our vehicles not even paying any attention to us. If you have never taken a safari we'd recommend you start with Tauck's Elegant South Africa. It is not as demanding physically - lower altitude, 4 days vs 12 "in the bush", game drives not as long. Seeing East Africa for the first time

I am a birder. I had never been to East Africa, so when a friend suggested this trip I decided to take the chance. The main goal of this trip is, of course, to see the "Big" mammals that everyone associates with Africa. These we saw in abundance. And we also saw birds, which is why I went. The guides were knowledgeable and able to help me.

Most Memorable Moment:

On one of our many "game drives" on the Masai Mara we were out in the middle of the Serengeti and every way you turned there were wildebeest and zebras, as far as the eye could see. No people, no houses, nothing but animals grazing.

We were expecting a great vacation on our Kenya and Tanzania trip. But instead of just a "great vacation" -- WE HAD THE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME! Out Tour Director was truly outstanding: planning and organizing our safari game drives; assuring that the individual needs of the participants were met; and educating us on African life.

Most Memorable Moment:

It's really impossible to identify just one. Our most memorable moments were: the animals we saw, up close, from our safari jeeps; our visit to the Masai village; our hot air balloon trip over the Serengeti; our visit to the school and meeting the children and their teacher.

As the name of the tour implies, it was indeed another classic, outstanding and exhilarating Tauck tour. We loved every minute of the tour and we had the best tour director, tour guides at all places. The trip was a dream come true because we were able to see all the "Big Five". It was a great experience to see all the animals in their habitat.

Most Memorable Moment:

Watching the full pride of lions and the way they greeted each other. Herd of majestic elephants, zebras, Wildebeest. giraffes, Hippos, Rhinos, Warthogs, and all kinds of antelopes including elands. The best part was a lion kill of a gazelle and the speed with which it happened. Also the Mara river crossing with the animals with the waiting crocs.

Yes, we saw the “big five”, and more - lions, rhinos, buffalos, zebras, elephants, gazelles, wildebeasts, giraffes, topi and, hippos.. we even saw leopards.. in 6 different environments. The trip in hindsight seems surreal. Bring your adventurous self on the trip.. this is not a Tuscan culinary tour.. this is Africa, not Italy!

Most Memorable Moment:

Enjoyed the lectures from the elephant researcher at Amboseli and Olduvai Gorge and, Nanyuki spinning and weaving demo. Buy a small rug to support them.. it’s a good cause. The visit to the Maasai village was interesting! Suggest you go in a day early, Kenya checked our Y/F vac., bring a great camera, a dust mask for the road and, book B-class.

Spent 2 weeks on safari in July. Weather was perfect. Mild with temps between hi 50s to hi 70s. Saw the Big 5,9 and ugly 5. Even saw some kills. Big herds of Zebra, Wildebeest and gazelle. Nest of giant crocs. Lots of early morning and late afternoon game drives to see the animals at their most active. 4 Seasons is amazing. A most memorable trip.

Most Memorable Moment:

Seeing a mother lion with her 2 cubs coming down a road right for us. She didn't mind that we were there but our driver backed the jeep up to give her some space. Then we watched as the cubs did what "kids" do. They rolled around in the grass and swatted at each other. Playtime with Mom supervising. e

Most Memorable Moment:

The hot air balloon ride over the Masai Mara came second to seeing herds of elephants getting their evening drink out of the watering hole at the Four Seasons. Wow! Never dreamed I would see the animals so up close and personal. The group dynamic was magical thanks to our Tour Director and our drivers who taught us to smell, listen and see. The weather was perfection, no bugs to speak of, phenomenal food, and the accommodations were unique and very very comfortable. Loved the African people!

Most Memorable Moment:

Our balloon ride over the Masai Mara! My mum's expression went from concern to utter peace and pleasure. The surprise that we encountered when we landed only added to my mum's bucket list dream! TAUCK is famous for the surprises! Best trip ever!

Wonderful hospitality from all hotels and the driver guides. Good flight transfer

Our trip was a dream come true for us. Our tour guide, accommodation, animal experiences and driver/guides were terrific. The people of Tanzania and Kenya touched our hearts with their friendliness. We learned so much and will definitely look to Tauck for further adventures.

Most Memorable Moment:

Seeing the elephants come out of the Manyara forest and feed right beside our vehicle was our first and probably most thrilling experience, while on safari. Ngorongoro crater and Serengeti plain sightings were also fantastic. I still have to pinch myself to see if it was all real or just a part of a dream.

Let me just say that we were aware of Tauck since my parents had gone to England with them. But what we experienced in Africa was beyond words. It was life changing. The guide was knowledgeable as well as helpful. But the animals blew us away; the accommodations were exquisite; the food was surprising. And, the special moments cannot be repeated.

Most Memorable Moment:

On safari, close up and personal with a pride of lions. My wife leaned out to take a picture and the lioness sat up inches from her Ipad. Yet, the balloon ride over the Serengeti and the elephants in the mist with Mt. Kilimanjaro in the background- pick one. And, the feast in the bush. Just amazing- But the school with the Maussi Kids unbelievable.

No operator can guarantee what you'll see on a safari, but with Tauck's careful planning and a bit of luck, we saw EVERYTHING.

Most Memorable Moment:

This is a totally unanswerable question. Was it the lions in the night? or the elephants at the watering hole next to the lodge in the Serengeti? or the sunrise balloon ride over the Maasai Mara? or the rhinos? leopards? cheetahs? hippos? We can't decide.

Our first Tauck trip, our second safari. We had a very good trip with few complaints. We were worried about the terrorist problem in Nairobi, but it did not impact us. We saw an outstanding number of animals. The hot air balloon trip was wonderful. The food gets a little repetitious. Rooms were fine. Several of the hotels need a little upkeep

Most everyone on the trip had at least 5 Tauck trips under their belt which is a testament to the care for details and the commitment to make each traveler get the most out of their trip. The accommodations were intersting culturally and as a solo traveler, I felt very safe.

Most Memorable Moment:

It is hard to pick one moment, but I found the local guides to be a wealth of knowledge and superbly professional. I learned so much from them, and they made the trip worth every penny. The interaction with the animals was my favorite part of the trip.

Most Memorable Moment:

Our first sighting of a lion with a fresh kill and all the other animals who waited patiently for the lion to finish his meal. This included the vultures circling overhead, the hyenas and the jackals. We revisited this sight later to observe the bones that had been picked clean. This gave us a new appreciation of the role of these scavengers.

It was incredible..the wildlife, the scenery, the hotels and tour drivers..they were the best. I wasn't that fond of the food. Just not a huge fan of Indian cooking and wish the hotels would mix it up a bit. We saw so many wonderful and beautiful animals and I did not want to leave. The Masai Village was tough just because the flies, still cool

Most Memorable Moment:

When we had a flat tire in Serengeti and driver Andrew had to get out within 12 feet of a pride of lions, and other tour companies protected him. We had to stay in to bus while Andrew jacked up the truck in dirt, which wasn't easy. He kept his cool and got it down. Pretty exciting....We just had the best drivers on all our trips.

My husband and I dreamed of going to Africa for our 25th wedding anniversary. Things kept getting in the way, but we finally made it. This year we will celebrate our 45th! All this to say that we had looked forward to this trip for a very long time, and it lived up to our expectations in every way! Rachel handled every detail, so we just enjoyed.

Most Memorable Moment:

On game drives, reminding myself that we were seeing the wonderful animals in their own habitat. We loved the animal orphanage at MKSC, because we fed and touched the animals.

Every accommodation was top shelf. The food was excellent and seemingly endless. The game drives were well-planned to fit into the schedule perfectly. Our tour director did a GREAT job of seeing to all our needs and preparing us with briefings and advice every step of the way. This was our first tour with Tauck, but after this experience, my wife and I told each other we would not hesitate to tour with Tauck again, as well as to recommend Tauck to friends.

Most Memorable Moment:

Sitting on the deck of our "tent" camping site on the Mara River and watching and listening to a dozen hippos jostling and "complaining". Or was it sitting on the deck at the Mara River having lunch while watching a very large crocodile on the opposite bank sunning himself while hoping for HIS lunch to wander by?

Our safari trip was beyond our expectations and every day was a new adventure. This was our fifth Tauck trip and we have never been disappointed in our expectations...the bar just keeps going higher and higher! We loved the pace and our guide Eric was outstanding as were all the local guides. We liked the varied hotels and particularly loved the Mt. Kenya Safari Club. It's good the trip includes flying to the different locals so that one sees and does an much as possible in lieu of the bad roads.

Most Memorable Moment:

Having a male lion come lie down right under my window in the vehicle and just stay there till our guide stared the motor and the lion just moved a bit so that his tail wasn't "run over". I'm still amazed just thinking about it!

Every detail of our safari was quietly managed by our Tauck director. The guides were outstanding and so willing to share their knowledge of the animals as well as life in Kenya or Tanzania. This was truly the trip of a lifetime!

Most Memorable Moment:

There were too many to choose just one!

Another unforgettable journey into a unique world! We loved the game drives. We loved taking pictures of the monkeys, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards, king fishers, and on and on and on. Ngorongora Crator , the Serengeti, Mt Kenya, Nanuki, the Amboselli, and the Masa Maira. Excellent.

Most Memorable Moment:

Watching the baby giraff prance about. Watching the lioness and her five Cubs walk around our vehical. Stalking leaped. Listening to the hippos stomp around in the river outside our tent. Meeting people who have become our traveling companions. Watching a herd of buffalo file past our balcony in the Serengeti for hours ... The herd was huge.

African Safari With Tauck

From the beginning, I wondered if I had made the right decision for my wife as she is a 5 star hotel type individual! Seeing the poverty and slum condition in Africa would not appeal to her. Much to my amazement upon arriving at the first hotel and beginning to see the wild animals, she was entranced! It has been her most favorite vacation.

Most Memorable Moment:

Seeing the giraffe's, lion's, elephant's, hippo's, zebra's, and wildebeests were memorable moments. Watching the sunset on the equator and the hot air balloon ride were special events. The guests became family as our Tour Director was able to help us interact with one another in clever, meaningful ways.

Excellent tour guide-Anna from Austria. She made sure that all the guests got to know one another, by switching safari vehicles each day. She gave information, had surprises and games every day and spoke Swahili! The accomodations were 5 star, the guides knowledgeable and the pace just right. We, also took the South Africa and Zimbabwe 2 years ago.

Most Memorable Moment:

Balloon ride- peaceful as the sun came up, seeing animals below surprise breakfast in the bush.

TAUCK RESPONSE

Our first Tauck Tour - Kenya and Tanzania Safari

Overall Rating: 1 2 3 4 5

Tauck was recommended to us by friends and we found their service was excellent. The tour director we had continued to "raise the bar" each day of the trip making it something to look forward to every morning. The accommodations, food, services and staff were all very good. By the end of the second day, we had already seen the "Big Five"

Most Memorable Moment:

The afternoon that we were just getting ready to go home to our tent at the Masi Fairmont when a large male cheetah climbed onto a termite mound no more than 50 yards from our vehicle to look around and then turned his head into the sun to make a striking picture, almost like he was posing.
