Everything we thought it would be plus! Our Hotel in Cape town (Cape Grace) was exquisite, perfectly situated at the marina. Lots of markets to browse local handicrafts. Kruger National Park with our driver and tracker, where we saw the big five the first day. Sabi Sabi was spectacular accommodations and Safari. It was truly a trip of a lifetime.

Most Memorable Moment:

When our tracker and driver tracked us to an embankment,"backed" down to a river bed where we wound up right next to a beautiful Leopard. Excitement personified.

We could not have enjoyed our trip to Africa more. From start to finish our trip was exciting, comfortable and elegant. We enjoyed traveling with a smaller group (16), and got to know everyone on the adventure. The tour director was exceptional and made the trip seem like a custom private tour for everyone.

Most Memorable Moment:

Seeing two of the Big Five over lunch before we got into our first safari vehicle.

We came home thinking ALL of South Africa is pathetically poor. When I spoke to a friend who is from there he was shocked we had not seen other areas in Johannesburg like Santon and Houghton. We know there are nicer areas in SA, but we never saw anything but poverty. And... we had lunch in the inner city. Poor choice

Most Memorable Moment:

The drives were exciting but maybe 8 were too many frankly. They all did not have to start at 6 am for sure. Animals were wonderful to see. The hotel in Victoria Falls was historic but OLD and needed a facelift to be frank. Our first Tauck tour and it was fun but for such a high end operation we expected a little better.

My thanks to TAUCK for another great journey! My sixth tour with TAUCK. I am an American and a descendant of W. Africa. I now see apartheid from a different perspective. Most Memorable Moment:

I truly enjoyed visiting Mr. Mandela's family home, the Constitutional Court, Soweto and taking part in all the Safari drives. Our Elegant South Friday Adventure will definitely be one of the most memorable vacations for many reasons. We initially decided to do this trip in honor of our 45th wedding anniversary and my 67th birthday celebration and we knew physically at this point it was something we could manage. From start to finish this experience was wonderful.

Most Memorable Moment:

Most memorable moment was our very first Safari when a huge elephant was headed directly and slowly towards our vehicle and then walked right past us. Second most memorable was walking into our Sabi Sabi Sands suite and finding rose petals everywhere and candles in honor of our anniversary. My 3rd was my bday celebration at jungle junction.

It was our first Tauck trip, but we are already planning our next!

Most Memorable Moment:

The city tours were excellent and gave a great broad view of the history and lifestyle of the area. Four nights an eight safari photo shoots were amazing. Victoria Falls was unbelievable.

Most Memorable Moment:

Watching the white rhino baby copy mom's tree scratching, rump dragging and finally nursing was something remarkable. Seeing the big five in two different areas was astounding. The first view of Victoria Falls cannot be described. Also wearing my Cape Horn shirt at the Cape of Good Hope and only one person noticing was pretty funny.

Overall an Excelent trip - Tauck always does it first class (our 14th Tauck trip). Although the flights between California and South Africa were long and tiring it was worth the journey. This trip covered so many interesting events - Great hotels and Animal park accomadations as well as many memorable historical sites and unique dinning events.

Most Memorable Moment:

The game drives in the two parks - especially Sabi Sabi where the close up viewing of Leopards, lions, rhinos, cape buffalo, elephants and many more was exceptional.

We can't stop talking about our all encompassing journey to Africa. From the coastal city of Cape Town, with its amazing and lively waterfront to Robben Island brimming with South African history and the plight of Nelson Mandela to the Cape Point's white capped waves and penguins lurking on the rocks. We saw it all in three short days.

Most Memorable Moment:

Kruger's safari vehicles take off in to the bush seeking sightings of the Big Five. Our excitement was overwhelming as we came upon a lion pride, later on a leopard hiding in the brush, a solitary rhino standing in open sight and then giraffes and zebras crossing our path. We saw Cape Buffalo in the river bed as we realized we had seen it all.

I took 8 family members (3 generations) on the 31 July 2015 trip. It was truly a trip of a lifetime, with a mix of fantastic geography, wild animals, and cultural understanding. South Africa has had an interesting and turbulent history, all of which came together on this trip. I highly recommend it over the trips that just visit animal parks.

Most Memorable Moment:

You can read about Mandela, Tutu, and apartheid, but until you've been given a tour of the Robben Island prison by a former inmate, you won't have the depth of understanding to comprehend it all. This was a "bucket list" trip for me and it was everything I could have hoped for. It was well planned with terrific accomodations. The game drives were my favorites but I also enjoyed experiencing the other parts of South Africa and gained an even deeper appreciation of the history of the country.

Most Memorable Moment:

The first game drive at the Lion Sands game reserve when we came upon a group of lions that had recently killed a buffalo. Sitting in the Land Rover just a few feet away was like being in a Wild Kingdom TV segment.

We went to South Africa to see animals in the wild and to learn something about the recent history of that country. We arrived in Capetown with modest expectations. Capetown, Table Mountain, the Cape Grace Hotel were exceptional. Tinga Concession and Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve lodges, Rangers and Trackers and animals were beyond our dreams.

Most Memorable Moment:

Having a 17 foot garaffe walk to within ten feet of where I was sitting.

As usual Tauck exceeded our expectations. Cape town was great even though we had bad weather. The Sabi Sabi and Lion Sands game drives were wonderful. Saw the Big Five and then some. Accomidations were fabulous in Cape Town, The two lodges and Victoria Falls. Johanas Burg was worth seeing once but would not go back. Hotel was upscale but not great.

Most Memorable Moment:

The Tauck trip to South Africa was awesome. The group was just the right size. Kruger Park was incredible and we got closer to the animals than I ever dreamed. Guides were wonderful. The food exceeded my expectations in quality and quantity. There was a lot of air travel within the country but it was the only way to see so much in the time allotted.

Most Memorable Moment:

Facing off against a herd of elephants protecting their young. Also, getting close to a beautiful leopard.

Travel is transformative. It can affect you in ways you didn't know possible. Traveling in Africa...the sights, the sounds, the people, the wildlife, the history - these are forever in my heart. I know we only saw a small part of this continent but it has changed me. These countries have come a long way but still have very far to go & need so much.

Most Memorable Moment:

The most special part for me was the bond I made with those traveling on this journey. You begin as strangers with your eyes wide open not knowing what lies ahead & you leave changed. Changed by what you've seen and who you've seen it with. I'm counting the days until I can once again return to this amazing continent.

We enjoyed every moment -- the big cities and the rugged bush country. It was one continual learning experience. It was so interesting to hear first-hand from people who had been intimately involved in the struggle for freedom. And, then to meet young people so full of hope and vitality. But, I must say, the animals stole the show!

Most Memorable Moment:

I enjoyed the trip but feel there was too much time spent in airports and flying. I feel that possibly a comfortable motor coach would be better than the hours spent getting to the airport, waiting for the flight, short flight and then driving to destination. I suggest going directly from Krueger to Victoria Falls and ending in Johannesburg

This is Africa -- all of it: from the gracious colonialism of Cape Town, to the excitement of the bush drives, to the history and struggles of Johannesburg/Soweto, to the mysterious beauty of Dr. Livingston's discoveries. This is also a rigorous trip, and getting there (and back) is NOT half the fun.!

Most Memorable Moment:

Oddly enough, my most memorable moments were in Zimbabwe toward the end of the trip when I actually "felt" Africa most. Most Memorable Moment:

The first safari was unforgetable. Already dark, four lionesses with four cups, passing 2 or 3 meters from the jeep. Sudden the guide said "they are hunting we will have to put the lights off."Completely dark, a strange sound, a scream, lights on, they had killed a waterbox and were starting to eat it.The cups learning how to bite in the neck. End.

It was superior. Enjoyed the little surprises that were not written up in the brochure. The itinerary was nice with town & history of Cape Town & Mandela; then onto the safari's and lodges that were so much fun and exciting. Then more of the history in Joburg, and onto the beautiful Victoria Falls. Extremely well organized.

Most Memorable Moment:

The whole trip was memorable and it is hard to pick one thing but the Safari game drives and Victoria Falls were the highlights.

I've taken 30 Tauck trips and this was a top 5 trip. Great mix of elegant city (Capetown), unbelievable wildlife and nature and inspiring culture and history. It's a great way to see Africa for the first time and get the feel for a safari.

Most Memorable Moment:

It has to be the 2 extremes of seeing so much wildlife up close and hearing personal accounts of what it was like under apartheid and seeing and hearing their happiness since its demise.

Along with India, this was our most exciting adventure! Tauck did an outstanding job and took great care of us! We saw things we never dreamt of before. While mostly casual, there were some lovely relaxing dinners in Cape Town, Joburg and Zimbabwe. Deena was fabulous to travel with, professional, competent & funny!

Most Memorable Moment:

Saw the 'Big Five' and loved being woken up by the elephants surrounding our cabin at Tinga lodge!

Our faith in Tauck has been renewed. The trip was truly elegant. A nice mix of cities and safaris. Our tour director, Deanne, was excellent. Everything was seamless. If you go during their winter, bring WARM clothing. You'll need them on the 6:30 AM game drives.

Most Memorable Moment:

Tinga lodge in Kruger Park was amazing - you have to experience it to appreciate it.

This trip was a pinnacle of Tauck trips that I have taken. The pace was demanding, but worth every single minute. Our guide was well organized and informative, and took an genuine interest in our well being. Winter is a great time to see animals and worth having to pack extra and warm cloths! We saw every animal imaginable!

Most Memorable Moment:

Being in the bush at sundown, hearing lions calling to each other while we had drinks and watched the sun set!

Could not have asked for more from a travel company! Great guide, good mix of tours & free time. WONDERFUL accommodations & a very good mix of activities. This trip is what I call traveling, not a vacation where you go to rest up unless you want to miss something. I have never been on a vacation but this was one of the best travels I have done.

Most Memorable Moment:

Maybe the cheetah with a fresh kill up a tree & watching her eat it, or the giraffes we came up on walking down the road or the elephants coming right up to our safari vehicle or first setting foot on African soil or seeing Soweto after hearing of it for so many years or the friendly people of Africa, the sky? I am still on overload 1 month later.

Best trip yet. I loved the variation of the safaris and going to Cape Town and Joberg and Victoria Falls. We learned a lot of Africa's history and saw its beauty. On our own we took a sightseeing bus around Cape Town. We got to see the children playing in the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean; also went to the botonical gardens.

Most Memorable Moment:

The safaris - seeing two lions eating their kill. Seeing families of elephants. Also feeding the elephants at the reserve in Victoria Falls. It was very moving to visit the Hector Pieterson Museum in Joberg. Meeting Hector Pieterson's sister, listening to her telling us about that day and taking a picture with her was wonderful.

The title of the trip says it all! The accommodations, the service, the sights, and the history of South Africa and Victoria Falls made the trip the most exciting and interesting of the eight Tauck tours we have been on. The safaris were magnificently organized and the knowledge of the rangers was exemplary. Truly, a fabulous trip.

Most Memorable Moment:

Actually, two memories stand out. One, being within touching distance of a pride of lions -- of course, we didn't try touching! Second, coming upon a troop of baboons where the adult male of a family admonished a baby for getting too close to the vehicle we were in. Amazing!!

This trip was great - we saw a lot of South Africa which we wanted to do, with plenty of time in the bush to see animals, no one was ever bored or ready to go home! Best was our tour guide, Peter, super-knowledgeable and beyond helpful to everyone to make the trip great. Our trip deleted Sabi Sabi so make sure you sign up for a trip that includes this resort as it is different than Tinga and interesting to see. City of Soweto was eye-opening to see the poverty, but lunch there was BAD!

Most Memorable Moment:

Probably the animals, but seeing Cape Town and Victoria Falls were also highlights

Not the best (hard to tell which that was) but certainly a great experience. We went in anticipation of seeing the animals but that was only a part of the experience. Mainly, we learned about South Africa and the horrors of apartheid The animals were amazing. An opportunity to pet a cheetah! Our TD was excellent, especially in view of our experience of having our room safe broken into and our money taken. We were made whole by Tauck.

We enjoyed our trip to South Africa. We thought the safaris would be the highlight, but actually it was the country of South Africa and the experience the country suffered during apartheid and the miraculous healing process created by Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu that is the lasting memory. As always, the accommodations were top notch and our tour leader excellent. The way the tour balanced nature and civilization was excellent. We would recommend this trip to others.

Most Memorable Moment:

Our visit to Soweto -- the Hector Pieterson Museum and meeting his sister and the visit to the Community Center and Constitution Hall.

The trip fulfilled all the plans promised. We had the BEST Tour Director! WE did see and do all that was planned. Enjoyed the talks by former prisoners on Robbens Island - very interesting and sobering. Such a travesty the people went thru! The Sabi Sabi camp was a favorite. Had excellent Ranger/Tracker with Jakob and Foster. Interesting to hear how the Bush is 'maintained' by the animals and their specific 'jobs'. I felt two Safaris was one too many.

Most Memorable Moment:

I loved the Cape Grace Hotel. Beautiful, interesting, unique decorating and first class service, food, all the way! Wished to have spent more time in Cape Town. Loved Table Mountain and the view from the top. Also, the wart hogs (mom, dad and the kids) feeding outside my hotel room in Victoria Falls. Due to the drought, no mosquitoes and low water @ the Falls, but still not disappointed! Lovely rainbows there!

We loved Capetown and our entire visit there. Our tour guide was the best we've ever had!(Rachel) We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Tinga and Kruger. The lodge was wonderful, the guides, the drives were so much fun. we think it was excellent also because we spent four night at one place and didn't have to pack up and go after only two nights. These two experiences were our favorites on the whole trip but we really enjoyed the whole trip in South Africa!

Most Memorable Moment:

When we were at Tinga one day at lunch looking at the river and saw a parade of elephants walking down to the river and crossing over to our side!

We had a terrific time and the only couple of negatives was the toilet in Tinga Lodge acted up but got repaired & the place maybe needs some up dated but liked the rustic feel & we fought the air conditioning in Victoria Falls to keep operational & not keen on the African Restaurant in Mandela Square. Our Guide Nancy we thought great, funny, organized and def.. We all thought we needed another day in Sabi-Sabi and sad to say Johannesburg didn't thrill us but did enjoy going to the kids school.

Most Memorable Moment:

The Cape Grace hotel was neat along with our view out our room.. both Sabi & Tinga Lodges neat but seeing the animals up close was the best.

It's been over two years since we took this tour, and we still remember every detail of it. It remains our all-time favorite vacation. The tour has a unique combination of scenery, adventure, and history. Our visits to Robbin Island (site of Mandela's imprisonment) and Soweto (scene of anti-apartheid school children being murdered) were poignant.

Most Memorable Moment:

There were so many! But I'd have to pick our safaris in Sabi Sabi Game Reserve, with encounters with a lion pride and giraffe herd being favorites. But I suppose THE moment was our native guide's demonstration of Impala Dung Spitting, which he assured us is the highlight event of the "Bush Olympics". I never get tired of watching the video.
