Cannot say enough about Tauck. We have recommended Tauck to other people and there are 10 attending the same trip next Summer from our hometown of Canton, Ohio through our recommendation. Everything was taken care of to the smallest detail such as providing money for public restrooms. The boat was exceptionally clean which was a big deal.

Most Memorable Moment:

Really enjoyed Prague and bicycling from Austria to Bavaria. Also, really enjoyed the home visit.

When I turned 50, my husband gave me a “coupon” good for my 1st trip to Europe! I am 60 and just returned from the Danube Eastbound. Must say, it was definitely worth the wait! From our intro to our onboard guides, hotel stays, fabulous boat, delicious meals (and surprise treats), destinations, it was first class ALL THE WAY!

Most Memorable Moment:

Our onboard suite was perfect! When our bags were ready and waiting to be unpacked in our spacious suite, with a walk in closet, flowers waiting, an ice cold Coke in the mini fridge, and double sliding doors to gaze out, was the perfect start to the amazing vacation to come. The pace of the trip was well tuned, and the comfy bed, aaah!

This river cruise exceeded all our expectations. Every city we visited was beautiful. The 3 off-ship dinners were over-the-top fabulous, with the Vienna dinner the most spectacular. And the on-board entertainment was excellent as well. The presentation by Martin Sloboda was very interesting and informative. All the cruise directors were wonderful.

Most Memorable Moment:

The palace dinner in Vienna was the most memorable. But it is difficult to pick just one!

We loved this trip, our very first river cruise. The ship's crew and our Tauck guides were all first class. The itinerary was amazing--we know from talking to friends that we experienced much more than they had on other cruise lines. Our room was good sized, and the bathroom was great. Will definitely do another Tauck cruise!

Most Memorable Moment:

The dinner in Vienna at the castle with music provided my members of the Vienna orchestra. Amazing!

Great! Exceeded expectations in terms of the ship, service, food and attention to detail. Only suggestion is quality of hotels should be consistent from trip to trip. We had Kempinski (Budapest) and Marriott (Prague). Both nice, but certainly not Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton that are part of other Danube trips. Very different Tauck experience

Most Memorable Moment:

I wish Tauck had warned us about Budapest bus scam

Overall Rating: 1 2 3 4 5

Travel Date: August 2018

Honestly, I would have given our trip a 4 or 5 except for our last day in Budapest - and unfortunately, I cannot go into much detail b/c this site limits me to 350 characters. Although we had valid tickets to ride the bus and validated our tickets, we were asked to get off bus and pay an immediate cash fine or be arrested by the BKK (bus police).

Most Memorable Moment:

The MS Joy and staff were wonderful, the land tour guides were not as organized or efficient, often giving us info “after the fact”. Sadly, our most memorable moment was the threat of being arrested by the bus police in Budapest which resulted in paying out a large amount of cash on the spot. I hope Tauck warns future visitors.

The water levels of the Danube presented us with some challenges, but the Tauck representatives and Ms Savor crew handled the adversity well. All the "ports of call" were interesting and beautiful and the tours and guides were A+. Our accommodations, both on the boat and onshore in Budapest and Prague, were very nice. We had dinners in two palaces!

Most Memorable Moment:

When we arrived in Budapest we were informed that our ship was in Vienna and we would be bussed to Vienna to board the ship. This meant that we would miss a significant part of our cruise and scenery on the Danube. That bus ride was 5 hours long. During this unfortunate experience the Tauck employees could not have been more accommodating.

Most Memorable Moment:

Dinner in Vienna at the palace and also at the palace in Prague. Visiting and meeting a Bavarian home and family. Private tour of the library at the monastery in Prague. The entire experience was wonderful. I do believe that Tauck should have notified their customers of the situation on the Danube before we began our trip.

This particular trip, our fifth with Tauck, was full of wonderment. Each city we visited offered incredible sites that cannot be easily verbally shared. Most Memorable Moment:

How about dinners in palaces, cruising the Danube River, meeting wonderful people, climbing up to the castle ruins in Dürnstein. We can’t pick one, the whole experience was top notch.

Most of the trip was wonderful but there were a few "bumps in the road" 1.Although you can't control the weather you can have a plan B - such as not putting 120 people in a 8x10 room shoulder to shoulder in extreme heat and humidity and talking for 45 minutes. 2. Always have a slow walker choice with a tour guide. Our tour did not always have this

Most Memorable Moment:

Picking one moment is tough! The Tauck exclusive library tour in Prague was incredible! We were told it was not to be missed and they were right! We also enjoyed the 18 mile bike ride along the Danube. That was a fun way to see the countryside.

Blue Danube East was my first Tauck tour. Every stop, every event was meticulously planned. There were bus tours and walking tours, with local guides explaining in clear English, the history and architecture of all the medieval towns where we stopped. The accommodations, the food and drinks, the crew, the tour directors, all were top notch.

Most Memorable Moment:

The most memorable event was the formal dinner at a palace in Vienna. It was an ornate hall, the dinner and the service were superb. However, what made it most memorable was the entertainment. We had our own private orchestra playing classical music for us, accompanied by a soprano and a tenor, and two dancers.

Thouroughly enjoyed our trip on blue Danube west. It was our first river cruise and first Tauck trip. The hotels chosen before and after our trip were perfect, very high end. Kempinski and Four Seasons. It’s always good to end your trip in a luxury hotel. The Tauck representatives were extremely helpful, energetic and informative at all times.

Most Memorable Moment:

Our bike trip in the little town of Durnstein. Also the first welcome dinner in Budapest at the museum of science. Champagne welcome, delicious dinner and the room was beautiful. However, we were extremely disappointed with farewell dinner at the Palace in Prague ,dinner (chicken) sub par, no champagne, woman talked for 1/2 hr about museum.

Every thing about the Tauck experience is first class, from the moment you arrive at the airport and are greeted by your transfer agent to the moment you depart. We were very impressed by the level of service, the quality of the accommodations and the food, the special events, the local tour guides, and the beautiful destinations.

Most Memorable Moment:

Dining in Vienna, in a beautiful ballroom, entertained by musicians from the Vienna philharmonic, the ballet, and the opera. For a moment I felt like royalty.

As first time Tauck travelers, we had heard from several friends how great Tauck tours were. It was hard to NOT be a little skeptical: "how can any tour operator be that good?" Tauck tour directors, local guides, food, ship amenities, and hotels were all spectacular. Could not have been better. Have Spain/Portugal already planned for next year.

Most Memorable Moment:

Two: home visit in Engelhartszell Austria. Tauck has uniquely established a relationship with the town mayor who reached out to his small town residents. There are 13 families who host small groups for tour and snack. Plus, the palace dinner in Vienna; the entertainment, opera singing, Vienna orchestra with dancing was beyond exceptional.

From Praque to Budapest nothing but quality. I was continually amazed that everyone who took care of us never left out anything, down to reminding us not to forget to remove our passports from the safe when we disembarked in Budapest. Everything about the boat, MS Joy, was a delight. The entire staff could not have been better. Loved it.

Most Memorable Moment:

Every city had it's charm, but, I have to say, I loved Praque, maybe because we were there ahead of time to explore. Stopping on the way to Regensburg for a rest stop was an eye opener. That charming rest stop with the pastries and the view and just the place itself was beautiful with the mountain view from the wrap around outdoor veranda.

Room on ship was surprisingly large and comfortable.

Most Memorable Moment:

There were at least 3 spectacular events: The surprise live performance by 2 members of Hungary's national opera, the fun of listening to the directors provide running commentary during our cruise through the Wachau Valley via "Radio Wachau" and the private tour of the Strahov Library near Prague Castle.

Most Memorable Moment:

My husband and I were amazed by the attention to the details during our trip. The hotels were excellent, the tour directors organized and attentive, and the ship was amazing. We were impressed with our room and the great food and service onboard. Our favorite parts were the local guides who walked us through each destination. Wow!

Most Memorable Moment:

We were surprised by the Schönbrunn Palace outside of Vienna - it was beautiful and majestic. But with so many great stops, choosing one is difficult!

This was our first river cruise and we carefully researched the options before deciding to travel with Tauck. We made an excellent choice. The accommodations were luxurious at the hotels and on the ship. It is absolutely "all inclusive" if you want it to be. Friends who used other cruise lines, did not experience the same special touches we did.

Most Memorable Moment:

We especially enjoyed the Tauck Fit activities and the Rapid Red option for the walking tours. Very appreciated! The complimentary bar gave us great flexibility when we wanted a glass of wine or martini in the afternoon on the sundeck or before dinner. The tour directors and local guides shared expert knowledge of the area & the region's history.

My wife and I previously planned our own vacations & traveled independently. The Tauck team made our 1st tour truly memorable. We had experiences that we never could have accomplished on our own, from the gala dinner in a Viennese palace to the little "surprises" that Tauck provided along the way. The service, tours and food were all 1st class!

Most Memorable Moment:

The food and entertainment at the gala dinner were wonderful. We also loved the home tour in Engelhartszell, which gave us the opportunity to look beyond the usual tourist attractions and see how ordinary Austrians live.

We recently returned from Tauck's Blue Danube River Cruise from Prague to Budapest. The trip fully met all of our expectations and was a fantastic experience from every perspective. Wonderful Tour Directors and local tour guides, the fantastic people and crew on MS Savor along with the beautiful sights and cities in Central Europe!

Most Memorable Moment:

It's difficult to name a specific memorable moment because there were so many outstanding experiences. The highlights for us included the beautiful time we had cruising down the Danube, the wonderful meals and service on-board MS Savor and the opportunity to visit beautiful cities and towns in Czechoslovakia, Germany, Slovakia, Austria and Hungary.

We have taken three land tours with Tauck and now two river trips. This was by far the best experience we have had! We took the east bound cruise that began in Prague and ended in Budapest. Our trip started in mid May. The experiences in each city and the MS Savor were simply perfect in every way: Wonderful hotels, amazing boat, great guides!

Most Memorable Moment:

The highlight was dinner in the palace in Vienna, but everyday brought a memorable moment. The opera house in Bratislava, the castle dinner and library tour in Prague, and the great time sailing on the MS Savor were all fantastic.

If you have never done a River Cruise then you are really missing something, especially with Tauck being your host. This is defenettly a BUCKET LIST item. You arrive on ship to be catered too for 9 days by Tauck staff which are the best in the business. I wasen't expecting much in the food department on the ship but was I pleasently surprised.

Most Memorable Moment:

There were several great moments but one was meeting the people on our tour . They were the nicest people you could meet. Then there were the tours that Tauck set up during our journey - Budapest to Prague. The local guides that Tauck hires are excellent and informative. And there is time on your own to explore. The schedules were very well thought out and we didn't feel rushed or pressured about anything. The sites chosen to see and tour were awesome!

We had a category 7 suite on the Joy. We loved lying in bed and watching the countryside glide by. We also found that having breakfast delivered to the room really helped on mornings with early start times. We enjoyed spending an extra day in both Prague and Budapest(loved both hotels).

Most Memorable Moment:

My most memorable moment was seeing the 'Shoes of the Danube' along the Danube River in Budapest. This sculpture of multiple pairs of rusted period shoes along the banks of the Danube brought home the horror of the many victims who were lined up and shot into the river from 1944 to 1945 by the Arrow Cross militiamen.

Book a Tauck River Cruise. They are the first and their reputation of the best is well deserved. Only one star short because of one misstep quickly rectified, and my particular preference for more tour details prior to trip like length of walking tour, approx start and end times, and a broader description, like on booking a tour on Viator, etc.

Most Memorable Moment:

The extras and surprises, which contradicts my preference for more structure. If you like looser travel schedule but extra perks and details covered like coins for WC Tauck is for you. Most Memorable moment was the Four Seasons Prague spa water therapy included, you need it for all the walking and it was amazingly relaxing and refreshing.

Even with the challenges of somewhat iffy weather, the entire Tauck team made the best of weather challenges. One of them even biked with us for 18 miles in the rain on our bike excursion to Passau.

Most Memorable Moment:

Our Blue Danube River Cruise including itinerary was outstanding!! It was a very active trip & we wanted to see as much as we could at each stop. Hotels before and after the cruise were excellent, esp. the 4 Seasons Gresham Palace in Budapest. Food and wine on board were also outstanding with excellent service from staff.

Most Memorable Moment:

One of the most memorable was the dinner at the Imperial Palace in Vienna with orchestra and opera singers. Phenomenal!!!! Also, the Opera House in Budapest was truly amazing. I would even try the opera if I could go to one there!! There were many other memorable moments but not enough space to list them. Tauck does most everything superbly.

This was my first river cruise and my first trip with Tauck. My friends had traveled with Tauck so many times that I felt it was time to take the Tauck experience. I was especially thrilled that the single supplement was waived for this excursion. Everything about the trip was fantastic and first rate. I will take another river cruise next year

Most Memorable Moment:

There were so many memorable moments, but the trip to Cesky Krumlov, the Schonbrunn Palace, Dom St. Stephen cathedral and the Hundertwasser House in Vienna will remain in my thoughts for a long time. Wish I could have stayed in Prague another day.

Every Tauck tour is a first class adventure and the Blue Danube River Cruise is no exception. Exceptional riverboat accommodations, culinary delights and extraordinary excursions make this such a memorable experience. I love the small groups on local tours and the guides who are so personable and knowledgeable with a love for their cities.

Most Memorable Moment:

I am still in awe whenever I think that I was able to view Beethoven's own ORIGINAL manuscripts! There were other several memorable moments, but for a lover of classical music this was nirvana!

We journeyed to Prague a couple days early, but should have planned more time there. Concerts all over, and be sure to try all the beers. The cruise was fabulous and the ship was more than you could ask in terms of service, food. Small ship river cruising is the best. We'll never take a mega-cruise ship again.

Most Memorable Moment:

So many memorable moments, and a personal one. In Durnstein I slipped away from the group and went swimming in the Danube with the locals who invited me to join their picnic on the beach. It was a moment I won't soon forget.

Every detail was taken care of. The Tauck extras were amazing. If you are looking for no worries, and a trip that is "under promised and over-delivered", take Tauck. The boat, directors and buses were exceptional. The private tours, hosts and surprises were everywhere though out the trip. You will not be disappointed! Enjoy every day!

Most Memorable Moment:

The Prague Castle dinner was by far the BEST. Hosted by the reinstated owner (Prince), it was a delight to hear the family story and see what a marvelous job the Prince and wife have done with the art they re-inherited. They do Prague and the Czech Republic proud. Theirs is the best museum I have ever been in. This visit alone was work the trip!

Most Memorable Moment:

Lobcowitz Castle in Prague was an unexpected surprise. What a fascinating place!

The only extra was laundry and a few meals when on our own. Truly all Inclusive!!! On-board food and service was top notch as were the three individuals who prepped us and accompanied us on the shore excursions. The majority of the local guides were excellent. The Tauck exclusives, such as the Strahov Monastery library tour were superb.

Most Memorable Moment:

The dinner in the Palais Pallavicini with an incredible solo violinist, an opera duo and a ballet duo plus excellent accompanists (including one of our group on the triangle). I think the entire group was absolutely enraptured by the quality of the music. Will never forget it.

Tauck employees top of the line, very professional and pleasant. Contract guides for shore excursions were knowledgable locals that provided a feel for each place we visited.

Most Memorable Moment:

Local guides comparing life under communism verses their lives after the fall of communism. Dinners in Budapest, Vienna and Prague.

Nice way to see many contries and Tauck's MS Savor is a wonderful ship with great food. Prague is lovely. The best experience was the optional one - biking along the Blue Danube. Our trip was dampened (literally) by rain every day and as it was rather chilly, so we found ourselves huddling in coffee shops instead of touring. Just bad luck.

Most Memorable Moment:

Bicycling along the Blue Danube, sailing through the Wachau Valley, pastry in Vienna and the Opera House in Budapest.

Danube in October

Travel Date: October 2014

We had never traveled to this part of Europe and loved the scenery, cities and towns we visited. The Danube, historically, was never important for commercial shipments, like the Rhine, because of the numerous River cataracts (now tamed by locks). Excepting one day, the bus trips were mercifully brief because every place was close to the River.

Most Memorable Moment:

We had a choice between visiting Salzburg or Cesky Krumlov and chose the latter since we had previously visited Salzburg. Cesky Krumlov deserves its recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site! Vienna visit was only two days, barely time to see enough, but fortunately not a one day stop!

Lovely formal dinners in castles with live (classical) music, passionate shipboard Slovakian dancers, gardens, cathedrals, sheer magic!

Most Memorable Moment:

Budapest, villages on Danube, Vienna and Prague. The heavy rain in Salzburg wasn't pleasant.

TAUCK RESPONSE

We are so pleased you enjoyed your overall journey. I am sorry the dining experience fell below your expectations; I will be sure to share your comment with management.

Had the sun cooperated, this trip would have been fabulous. We saw the highlights of every stop on the trip, with special musical performances, wine or food tastings, and outstanding local guides. Our tour directors were especially attentive to every detail, all with energy and a huge smile. Loved every destination on the trip.

Most Memorable Moment:

All of the museums in the Hofburg Palace are outstanding: The Imperial Treasury and the Imperial Silver and Porcelain Collections are not to be missed. Dinner with music and dance entertainment at the Palasi Pallavicini in Vienna was very impressive, plus delicious.

Tauck is definitely the way to go. From the luggage handling to the last night at the castle everything was smooth and professional. Our cruise crew: Anna, Nikki,Linda and Jerome could not have been more helpful and pleasant. The special touches that Tauck provides: little gifts in the cabin at night, special dinners at amazing venues all 10.

Most Memorable Moment:

Too many to say. Maybe the last dinner at the castle in Prague with the amazing museum. But each day presented a unique experience.

We are so pleased you enjoyed your trip and look forward to hosting you on many more.

We have sailed on ocean cruises in the past; this was our first river cruise and it exceeded our expectations. Everything was well planned and executed and in spite if the terrible weather, we enjoyed it immensely.

Most Memorable Moment:

When the river began to rise very quickly, arrangements were made to move the ship so we could get on a bus to be able to finish our vacation. Your motto should be: Is there a problem? Tauck has the solution!

TAUCK RESPONSE

We are so happy to learn this journey exceeded your expectations. Thank you for taking the time to share with us.

This trip exceeded my expectations which were already high. Every member of the staff from the tour directors on down performed flawlessly. The food was excellent and abundant. During the on shore walking trips with local guides the Tauck directors were constantly nearby and vigilant.

Most Memorable Moment:

It's hard limit myself to one moment, but the joy my wife experienced in celebrating her birthday on this trip was truly memorable

I would suggest getting to Prague a few days earlier because it is an amazing city. The cruise was very enjoyable. The ship was beautiful. The directors were very knowlegable and accommodating. We visited small quaint towns like Passau and large cities like Vienna. All had their own charm. I do find a river cruise quiet at night. Not much to do.

Most Memorable Moment:

Hearing the pipe organ in Passau and cruising through the Wachau Valley were great. The nights at the Palace Pallavicini and Lobkowitz Palace made you feel like royalty. Loved the scenery around Salzburg. Loved Budapest and enjoyed seeing The Kiss etc ...

We were kept busy always learning, seeing great sites, being entertained, and meeting wonderful people. The Tauck guides were outstanding. Their expertise made it seem like their job was easy. We had the best weather one could ask for. On board lectures were both educational and fun. I was not ready for this adventure to end.

Most Memorable Moment:

There were so many great memories, that it's hard to pick one. However; the special dinner and entertainment in the palace in Vienna has a slight edge over so many.

Wonderful Blue Danube Trip - A Logistics Ballet

Overall Rating: 1 2 3 4 5

Travel Date: May 2013

May 16, our second Tauck trip (first was Italy), the Blue Danube Eastbound. Tauck seriously knows their business. The experience was both educational and illuminating. We learned a great deal about life in the former Iron Curtain countries we visited and gained a bit of insight into how difficult the transition to Democracy is for some of them.

Most Memorable Moment:

Two more memorable parts: 1) Elegant dinner with string trio at the Lobkowicz Palace with welcome from the Prince about his family's 700-year history. 2) Cruise through Wachau Valley and visit to Durnstein including hike (really, hike) to castle ruins (really, ruined) in which Richard-the-Lionhearted was held prisoner in 1192. Wonderful view.

This was our first trip with Tauck. This trip was beyond our expectations. Once we arrived at the Budapest airport just about everything was handled for us. All the tours, gratuities, and most meals are included. We love having to only unpack once on the boat. We traveled on the river at night so we arrived ready to tour.

Most Memorable Moment:

Our most memorable moment was the dinner at the Palace Pallavicini. It was like a dinner from a fairytale with exceptional food, service, and entertainment.

Budapest to Prague. We loved it. Never had been to Central Europe so we experienced new places and new insight to the people and customs and history. Loved the cities of Budapest (a wonderful surprise), Vienna (spectacular) and Prague; as well some of the smaller towns. River Boat and staff were amazing, and tour directors made everything seamless.

Most Memorable Moment:

By far and away, it was the dinner and entertainment at the Palais Pallavicini in Vienna.

This was our 3rd Tauck trip. We had 3 couples going on the Danube. The weather left something to be desired, but in spite of that, Tauck tour guides gave great tours. Also, the local guides were wonderful and full of facts. Tauck always has a surprise for their guests and this was no exception. We highly recommend the River Cruises with Tauck!

Most Memorable Moment:

Elegant, insightful and well planned! Everything went off without a hitch, as advertised visits, and many delightful surprises! The staff was friendly, always smiling (I don't know how they do it) and so accommodating. I can't say enough about the lengths Tauck staff went to ensure this was an experience of a lifetime! (They succeeded)!

Most Memorable Moment:

Quietly cruising down the beautiful Danube one morning, waking up to church bells ringing from a lovely church on the shore.

Blue Danube--our first Tauck trip

Overall Rating: 1 2 3 4 5

Travel Date: October 2012

This was our first of what will be many Tauck trips. We were amazed by the itinerary and by the efficiency of our Tauck director & the local guides provided. A former coworker had done a similar tour just prior with another agency. Not only did he not have the opportunities we did, but had too many legitimate complaints about his entire experience.

Most Memorable Moment:

The history, the architecture, the scenery along the river were all memorable. One of the most amazing things to consider is that a good part of this tour is in former Soviet bloc nations, inaccessible not all that long ago. Some of these areas were dominated first by the Nazis, then by the Soviets.

A Floating Hotel!

What better way to see Eastern Europe than floating down the Danube! Traveling at 15 knots an hour, we were easily able to take in the magnificent sights of the countryside. You unpack for the week and spend the next few days leisurely waking up in a new city or country every day. From Budapest to Vienna, to Prague, it's a photographer's dream!

Most Memorable Moment:

Having lunch at The Golden Well! Situated high up on the other side of the Charles Bridge, we dined on the most glorious of days, overlooking the entire city of Prague! Should be even more beautiful for dinner if the weather cooperates. But don't miss the clock in the center of the square that chimes every hour on the hour, a spectacular sight!

Nothing to Worry About!

Joined friends to celebrate our 50th anniversary. Our 1st trip with Tauck, we expected quality, but Tauck surpassed our expectations! Christine, Andy & Jener were not overbearing, but available always. Swiss Jewel was elegant and comfortable, dining great, tours informative and entertaining, special events VERY special. Quality staff AND guests.

Most Memorable Moment:

Cannot pinpoint one moment. Always having done our own plans and arrangements for travel, I think the moment that we realized we did not need to worry about a thing was the best! Being a little older now, we look forward to this kind of indulgence - keeping the fun and ease in travel without giving up the experience.
